• Make a $5 USD donation using the button to the left.  That includeds postage, too.

• Send $5 USD (also includes postage) to:

OR you can visit us at the Chicago Zine Fest on Saturday, March 13th.  We'll have lots of copies of #3, plus back issues and other awesome queer zines for sale or trade.

Please note that the only way QZAP raises any funds to keep running is through the sale of QZAP:meta, our t-shirts, and through donations from queer zine fans like you.  Please help us out.

Homographic Convergence

stabbyWhat's with the big knife, you ask?  No, we're not getting all stabby on you by any means.  The graphic above is from a very special submission to QZAP.  A few weeks ago we got a donation that included original paste-up pieces for SPEW: The Homographic Convergence.  SPEW was one of the first gatherings of queer zinesters.  It took place in May, 1991.

"The SPEW document set includes several original flats and graphic elements that were created to publicize SPEW and other related events in May 1991.  The files are not in any particular order and some were combined to make fronts and backs, then photocopied onto colored paper for the final posters."

We think it's a pretty cool piece of queer zine ephemera, and are thrilled to be hosting it here at QZAP.

19 years later, there are all sorts of zine gatherings and events.  Members of the QZAP collective try to get to as many as we can, but money, time, and geography sometimes limit what we can participate in.  That, however, is not a barrier to what we can post about.  If you know of an upcoming zine fest, radical queer gathering, or queer zinesters who are on tour, please let us know, and we'll post it to our events calendar.

Speaking of zine events, our pals at the Sticky Institute in Melbourne, Australia, are celebrating The Festival Of The Photocopier for the entire month of February.  If you're Down Under, and it's possible to bounce to Melbourne, go support Sticky and all the cool things they do.

Also upcoming, members of the QZAP collective will be at the Chicago Zine Fest in mid-March.  We'll be releasing the latest version of QZAP:meta then, and hanging out with queer zinesters from all over the U.S.  With any luck, we'll also have a couple of copies of Born To Struggle #4 from Simon Strikeback on our table.  Come check us out in person, if you're able.

In the meantime, explore the site, download some zines, and make some of your own.

Hugs,
The QZAP Collective

300 Zines and counting*

300Here at QZAP 2010 is off to a roaring start.  We've now got 300 zines, flyers, and odd ephemera online in the Archive!  If this is your first time here or you're a regular reader, please take some time to browse and find something new-to-you to read.

There are the classics like J.Ds, Anonymous Boy, I ♥ Amy Carter, and Susan Mini Mag.  There are more recent zines like the 2008 RMO Tour zine from our friends in the Rude Mechanical Orchestra, Sassyfrass Circus, Borderlands, and Gone to the Moon.  Also, be sure to take a peek at the single-page flyers and odds and ends.  You might find Pansy Division trading cards, posters to hang up in bus shelters, and pieces of queer history that need to be shared again.

Also coming up in the beginning of 2010 is the next issue of QZAP:meta #3.  We're still accepting submissions for another couple of weeks.  With a little bit of faerie magick we'll have it done and printed toward the end of February.

Finally, Miss Nico, who has been part of the QZAP collective for several years, is starting a new zine distro for feminist and trans zines.  Grrrl Germs should be opening sometime in January, 2010.

All of us here at QZAP hope that you have a great year filled with queer zines, love, and revolution.
