Go to house shows? Play house shows? Host house shows? Participate in the DIY music scene?
Submit to Basements and Living Rooms: Stories of House Shows and DIY Music!
Share your stories and experiences with DIY music! This zine will focus on house shows but isn't necessarily exclusive to houses. I'm looking for writings, photos, artwork and whatever else you can think of about going to house shows, playing house shows, hosting house shows, playing in DIY bands, booking and promoting DIY bands, distros, putting out cds and tapes, how house shows and DIY music affect your life, etc. The goals of the zine are to share stories, reminisce, promote DIY bands, house venues, and other DIY spaces, tell why these things are amazing and important parts of the underground/DIY/folk/punk music scene and engage and inspire houses and bands to continue. Also, if you put on shows at your house or some other type of venue, please submit a description, photo and location if you wish, and list of upcoming shows. We could even have a r.i.p. show house section.
*EXTENDED UNTIL UNKNOWN DATE* DEADLINE: AUGUST 13TH
Please send images as a JPEG, PDF or TIFF and at least 300 dpi, word or txt documents, or physical copies of writings, photos, artwork, etc. Email with any questions, ideas or comments.

Radical Southern Zine Archive Project University of Alabama
The University of Alabama is looking for submissions/donations for a new archive that will collect zines from Southern authors, and zines about Southern experience. This collection will be housed within the W.S. Hoole Special Collections Library and once cataloged will be available for any scholar or zine enthusiast looking for research opportunities or just a nice afternoon read. This project began as the brainchild of our students and staff who have been creating zines, using zines in the classroom, and have a general love of all things zine related.
The goal of the collection is to gather together the work of individuals who are writing in the South, writing about the South and zinsters who are Southerners living across the world. It is our belief and hope that the Radical Southern Zine Archive will help bring together the work being produced everywhere about the South and house it where all can enjoy it. We want all those Southern perspectives so send us your zines and let’s get this process started. If anyone has any questions please email us and we will get back to you ASAP.
The official opening of the Radical Southern Zine Archive will take place in September, and will kick off a yearlong celebration of the zine and the zine
community. We look forward to hearing from each and every one of you.

Submit to Femme a Barbe Vol. 2: The Zine for Bearded Ladies and Other Gender Outlaws
Wednesday, 14 July 2010 13:00
Milo
Femme a Barbe seeks to promote discussions of identity and desire (mostly) through that stuff that grows (or doesn't grow) on our faces. Whether you love it, hate it, want it, got rid of it or are trying to grow it....
From Issue 1: "To the Secret Freaks: Come with me! Dare to imagine a world full of women with beards and other gender outlaws, to imagine the possibilities of a feminist cultural politic that rejects the bullshit concern that feminism appear normal, a queer cultural politic that rejects the mainstream gay desire to assimilate and consume. Make a spectacle of yourself. Join the Femme a Barbe insurgency!"
All submissions must be: 5x8, Black and White or Grayscale Images must be at least 350 dpi and JPEG please send submissions to

Graduating into Unemployment Zine Submission Call Out
Monday, 12 July 2010 13:49
QZAP
Graduating into a recession in societies where unemployment is frowned upon, adjusting from school into a shrivelling economy. I want a zine to collect our feelings, struggles, and copings with transitioning from student life into unemployment, or into unstable employment (i.e. being in and out of work, or on temping contracts). I’m interested in how this has affected people’s identity, mental health, physical health, friendships, lovers, families, location, financial stability, sense of community and belonging, as well as how these experiences relate to class, citizenship, colonization, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and dis/ability. Submissions can be personal stories, advice, comics, poetry, artwork, or whatever else you can manage to get on paper. Submissions should be no longer than around 1000 words. Anonymous entries are welcome.
Submission deadline: 1st AUGUST 2010
